Minimize Windows Startup Time
Using this tip, you can configure what programs start up with Windows to minimize startup time. You can disable some optional windows applications like windows messenger, Yahoo messenger, QuickTime, and many other programs that run automatically when you start your computer. These programs are the main reason your computer slows down during startup because they use system resources.
Follow the given steps to disable the windows startup applications:
To use this feature, you will need to be logged into your computer with administrative rights.
Click the Start button, then click "Run", type msconfig, then press Enter.

A small System Configuration Utility dialog box will appear with many tabs such as General, System.ini Win.ini, Boot.ini, Services, Startup and Tools.
Select the Startup tab and uncheck the applications that you don't want to run when Windows starts up; please read the note below..
***Note: Most likely you won't know what some of these programs are. The best way to find out is to expand the "Command" field until you can see the name of the file running (for something like "C:\Program Files\wam\example.exe", "example.exe" is the name of the file). Go to Google and search for the file name ("example.exe") and the first few search results will be pages with information about the file, specifically meant to tell you if it should start up with Windows or not.

Now click Apply to implement the changes, then click on Ok to close the configuration utility.
Now close all programs and restart your computer for any changes to take affect.
